I felt the background stories and culture from Dutch-Indo’s have more recognition, their personal stories are shared, the culture is more explained and in this way it is better preserved.

    What makes an Indo?

This is what my project and mission are all about. Reach out to Indo’s over the world, to tell their story in photography, video and make the next book about INDO’S worldwide.

Mijn name is Armando Ello and I am a portrait photographer.
My entire career I am portraying people with Indo-European roots.
First of all, I have discovered that I am an Indo myself.
With my own curiosity, I listen and learn a lot from their stories.

My first book about ‘Doubt Indo’ was published in 2015 about the next generation here in the Netherlands.

But I think it is time to Unite Indo’s all over the world and collect their stories to publish in a new book about Indo’s because there is not a lot of photography books about the topic.

This project became bigger than only discovering my own pieces of the puzzle.

Participate as well? Press this button and go to the form..

It is about capturing who we are right now, and where we come from. If we are lucky we can still ask our grandparents about the early days before it is too late.

For this project I will make a ‘time document’ if you will, to teach next generations about our story.
Preserve the culture as it is now and how it is changing.

So I ask you for your help. I financed this project until now from my own pocket and invested the time to photograph 46 people for this project already.

I have been to the North of Sweden to capture one particular person and now in the final phase of production, I need to capture almost 30 people and counting around the world in 12 countries.

    Is this possible?
I believe so because it is important to make and share this document.

I want to cover the cost for traveling in 4 weeks and print a book which can be shipped to your hometown all over the world.

The book is a conversation starter, educating people about our history.
Raising the awareness of being Indo so we can give ourselves the chance to be proud of who we are.

What can you do to help?
Share this on Facebook, like this video and donate to this mission. Check out the gifts you get from each donation. Every dollar helps to make this book a reality.

So thank you so much for watching this video, I can’t wait to meet you in real life…and until then: Selamat Hari Natal.

Keep up the good work Armando! I’ve been following you for quite some time. You’re one of my Indo heros. It’s so important to share our history and culture with the world. Also for my kids, I want them to know they are Indos and to understand and further develop what that means ❤️
